I have this model and on the back it has an RJ45 port so I can connect it to a router or to a hub for the internet connection. I don't have those, but what I have is an open WiFi signal (which I have permission from my neighbor to use ) Now if I buy one of these cheap wireless bridges. Can I use RJ45 to connect to the Internet? Ask Question 0. Is it okay to use RJ 45 as the Ethernet cable? For this computer, the LAN interface is RJ45. Can it be connected to a router? Any speed difference? Internet rj-45. Share improve this question. Edited Mar 22 '12 at 19:16.
Cat5 has nothing to do with the jack - it's a wire specification, and it will work with RJ-45 or RJ-48. Here's the difference between RJ-45 and RJ-48::1.RJ45 and RJ48 use the same connector2.RJ45 differs from RJ48 in the way they are wired3.RJ45 is predominantly used in LAN while RJ48 is more commonly seen on T1 lines4.RJ45 is connected with UTP cable while RJ48 uses STPThe most important thing is the longer distance involved and the shielded twisted pair wire, which is important for long runs, so you should use cat5e shielded twisted pair.
